WASHINGTON, D.C.//October 29, 2013//Don Blandin is the new president of the nonprofit Alliance for Investor Education (AIE), a nonprofit consortium of 19 leading trade group, governmental and quasi-governmental U.S. organizations involved in investor education. The other newly elected AIE officers are Theodore Daniels, vice president, and Robert Stammers, secretary/treasurer.

Don Blandin, president and CEO of the Investor Protection Trust (IPT) in Washington, DC, replaces Sue Duncan, vice president of the Investment Company Institute Education Foundation (ICIEF), as the top elected officer of AIE. He was appointed president and CEO of the IPT, a nonprofit organization devoted to investor education, in 2004. As president of IPT, Blandin works frequently with state securities regulators on programs to help Americans of all ages become wise and safe investors.

Blandin has been building national and international coalitions and partnerships for more than four decades. He brings significant involvement and knowledge in critical national and international issues including financial literacy and investor education to this position. Blandin has worked in and with a wide variety of public and private-sectors, including business and industry; nonprofit associations; academia and philanthropic foundations; and federal, state and local government, both in the U.S. and globally. Recent awards received by Blandin include the Council of Better Business Bureaus' International Torch Award for Consumer Leadership and the Financial Planning Association's Heart of Financial Planning Award.

Theodore R. Daniels is the founder and president of the Society for Financial Education and Professional Development (SFEPD). He also served as a member of the President's Advisory Council on Financial Literacy, beginning January 2008 through January 2010. Founded in 1998, SFEPD is a non-profit organization whose mission is to enhance the level of financial and economic literacy of individuals and households in the United States and to promote professional development at the early stages of career development through mid-level management. The U.S. Department of Treasury's Office of Financial Education has recognized SFEPD seminars for meeting their criteria for effective financial education programs.

Daniels has more than 35 years of experience in financial management and investments. He has served as a member of the Board of Directors of the Certified Financial Planners Board of Standards. Daniels is also a member of the Financial Services Roundtable's Retirement Security Advisory Board. Daniels also serves on the Advisory Boards for the College of Business and Applied Professional Sciences at South Carolina State University and Fort Valley State University's Department of Business and Economics. His organization is also a partner of the Financial Services Roundtable, which represents largest financial services corporations in the country.

Robert Stammers, CFA, is director of investor education for CFA Institute. Prior to joining CFA Institute, Stammers founded a consulting company to aide real estate owners, lenders, and syndicators, develop and analyze structured real estate investments. He developed strategy for obtaining debt and preferred equity capital, as well as created finance-related marketing materials and research papers for various clients. Stammers has authored over 100 articles on various financial and investment topics for several investment periodicals such as Forbes and Investopedia. He served as a senior equity analyst with Long Term Short Term, Inc, where he was responsible for the creation of new investment tools and instructional products to provide the revenues for two new investment education companies. As a senior executive for several institutional fund managers, Mr. Stammers was the portfolio manager for a $1 billion enhanced real estate fund, a $1.2 billion private timber fund, and several pension fund separate accounts.


Founded in 1996, the Alliance for Investor Education Web site at http://www.investoreducation.org provides investors with access to a full range of information they need to make wise investment decisions. The 19-member Alliance for Investor Education is dedicated to facilitating greater understanding of investing, investments and the financial markets among current and prospective investors of all ages. We pursue initiatives for education and join with others to motivate Americans to obtain objective information and increase their knowledge and understanding of investing.
