WASHINGTON, D.C.//May 26, 2016//At a time when women are still making less money than their male counterparts for equal work, the nonprofit Alliance for Investor Education (AIE) is now offering "Women and Investing: Resources to Empower Female Investors" at http://www.investoreducation.org/womeninvesting. AIE is a consortium of 15 leading U.S. financial-related foundations, nonprofit organizations, associations and governmental agencies.

Whether it's marriage, divorce, returning to the workforce, planning for retirement or simply finding an investment professional, women face many obstacles when it comes to financial matters. Resources specifically geared to the needs of women can be hard to find.

AIE President Don Blandin, who also serves as president of the Investor Protection Trust, said: "We encourage all investors to educate themselves as they plan for their financial future. Investment decisions can be daunting to anyone regardless of their investing experience or knowledge of saving and investing. Women often have different needs and face different challenges than men. That is why it is important to educate women about available resources that can help them make the best financial decisions for their long-term financial goals."

The new "Women and Investing: Resources Designed to Empower Female Investors" section of the AIE Web site features the following 13 top resources for consumers:
